In 1867, at a place called "Longines" on the right bank of the Suze River in the Saint-Imier valley, the "Longines Factory" was established to assemble and finish watches using mechanical methods in one place. Francillon later brought in his young relative, engineer Jacques David, to develop the necessary machinery to enhance the watchmaking process. Production continued to expand relentlessly until the 1930s. By 1911, the "Longines Factory" employed over 1,100 workers and shipped its products worldwide. Longines' technical research efforts were rewarded in various forms, winning over 10 Grand Prix awards by the 1929 Barcelona International Exposition, establishing itself as the "most awarded brand." In 1989, Francillon registered the name Longines and the winged hourglass logo as trademarks. Longines, registered with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), is a brand that uses the oldest registered trademark and logo, maintaining its heritage while evolving its watchmaking technology in the factory.
