Longines Men's La Grande Classique Silver Watch L4.908.4.71.2 (Parallel Import)
| Brand History | |
| In 1832, Auguste Agassiz, brother of the renowned naturalist Louis Agassiz, ventured into the world of watchmaking at a Swiss watch sales company. Under the name Agassiz & Co., he successfully expanded the distribution of watches made through domestic industry to America and beyond. In the mid-1850s, Ernest Francillon, Agassiz's nephew, took over the business. Francillon consolidated the scattered manufacturing processes into one location at "Longines," on the right bank of the Suze River, establishing the Longines factory for assembly and finishing watches using mechanical methods. Over the years, Longines continued to innovate its manufacturing processes, earning numerous accolades and becoming known as the brand with the most awards by the time of the 1929 Barcelona International Exposition. In 1989, Francillon trademarked the name Longines along with the winged hourglass logo. Longines, rooted in Switzerland since 1832, continues its legacy of watchmaking under the themes of "tradition," "elegance," and "performance." | |
