In the 1930s, Breitling's U-Boat Aviation division made a name for itself by inventing precise cockpit clocks. Twenty years later, it introduced even more innovative flight instruments to the world in the form of the Ref. 765 Avi. This watch, a pioneer of pilot watches, serves as the technical foundation for today's Super Avi. The Super Avi collection is inspired by the rugged spirit of aircraft that made their mark in the dawn of aviation. The Super Avi Mosquito pays homage to such legends. In an era when aluminum and steel were in constant short supply, engineers involved in the development of the de Havilland Mosquito utilized wood, a material still abundant at the time. The "miracle of wooden aircraft" surpassed the performance of contemporary metal planes, becoming one of the fastest aircraft produced between 1940 and 1950, creating a sensation. Thanks to its excellent maneuverability, it could perform various roles, including light bomber, transport, and photo reconnaissance missions. The Super Avi Mosquito is inspired by the all-black airframe of the two-seat night fighter, the Night Fighter 2, which prowled the night skies. Designed as a true pilot's watch to withstand the rigors of cockpit conditions of the time, the Super Avi Mosquito features large, easy-to-read Arabic numerals on the dial and bezel. The entire case is made of black ceramic, complemented by beautifully contrasting titanium pushers, crown, case back, and buckle. The bezel is notched to provide optimal grip, even when pilots are wearing gloves. The military leather strap evokes classic flight gear. For pilots and travelers, the functionality of displaying a second time zone with the inner bezel and the white GMT hand is extremely convenient. The movement of the Super Avi boasts the Breitling Manufacture Caliber B04, with an impressive power reserve of approximately 70 hours.
