Timing was crucial for divers, and Breitling aimed to create an easily readable diver's watch that eliminated everything unnecessary except the life-saving functions required underwater. This watch, pared down to the essentials, was named the Slow Motion. Retaining its clean lines, thick luminescent indexes, square hands, and high-contrast dial ring, maximum legibility is ensured. Practical, to say the least. However, it was the appearance that was so beloved. The new Superocean follows the design codes of the popular Slow Motion, while adding modern features such as a ceramic-inlay bezel and vibrant dial colors. The broad hands and indexes are coated with Super-LumiNova® for enhanced readability underwater. The watch is water-resistant to 300m and is also resistant to shocks, sand, and salt water. The bronze version utilizes a special corrosion-resistant alloy, which will develop a subtle patina over time, giving the watch a unique character. Two strap options are available: rubber and metal bracelet, both with a folding clasp that allows for micro-adjustments of up to 15mm, making it easy to wear over a rash guard or wetsuit. The scratch-resistant ceramic-inlay bezel is resistant to wear and fading. For safety, most sizes feature a unidirectional bezel, while the 46mm size has a patented locking, bidirectional rotating bezel. And above all, this watch is more than just a diver's watch.
