In the 1950s, the original Co-Pilot Ref. 765 AVI gained immense popularity, second only to Breitling's other icon, the Navitimer. With its bold design, engraved rotating bezel, and highly legible dial, the 765 AVI quickly became the perfect companion to the Navitimer as a robust and reliable pilot watch. Today, the AVI Ref. 765 1953 Re-Edition meticulously replicates the details of the early Co-Pilot Ref. 765 AVI. The all-black dial, protected by a domed Hesalite crystal, features the same Arabic numerals as the original Co-Pilot. It includes tone-on-tone small seconds, a 15-minute counter, and a 12-hour counter. The color of the hand-applied Super-LumiNova has been carefully selected to recreate the hue of the luminous material from the original model, adding a vintage feel to the AVI Ref. 765 1953 Re-Edition. The 41mm stainless steel case remains true to the original. The bezel is securely fixed with three screws precisely positioned like the 1953 model. The only two differences from the original are that the AVI Ref. 765 1953 Re-Edition has improved water resistance, now capable of withstanding 3 atmospheres (30 meters/100 feet), and the absence of the word "GENEVE" on the dial. The AVI Ref. 765 1953 Re-Edition is powered by Breitling's in-house Caliber B09, a hand-wound COSC-certified movement developed based on the famous Breitling Caliber 01 for this re-edition. It comes with a vintage-style brown leather strap featuring a pin buckle. Each watch is engraved with "ONE OF 1953," indicating its status as part of a limited edition of 1953 pieces.
